Dr. Farrell served as Dean of the UW Medical School from 1994 through July 2006.


Dr. Farrell's 30-year history at the University of Wisconsin began in 1977, when he joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center. He became Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and Medical Director of the UW Children's Hospital in 1985.

In 1994, Dr. Farrell began serving as Interim Dean of the University of Wisconsin Medical School, and was appointed Dean in 1995. In 2001, he was named Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs at the University of Wisconsin.

Dr. Farrell's numerous accomplishments as Dean have enhanced the School's reputation as a world-class institution, and will make a positive impact on health care in Wisconsin for years to come.
